BLACK SOAP~ has long been used to heal problem skin. Its good for thinning fine lines, evening out dark spots, eczema, razor bumps and eliminating blemishes. It is also used to lightly exfoliate and give you healthier looking skin.

Can African black soap be used on all skin types?
African black soap is considered to be safe and beneficial for all skin types, if its dry, oily, normal, or a combination of both, and even sensitive in some cases. For the most part, users of African black soap have found it to be beneficial, even to be healing to their skin. You will either find the soap moisturizing or drying. All of our skin types react in different ways.

Black soap usually varies from batch to batch as do most handcrafted soaps, Black soap begins with potash from plantain skins and leaves, cocoa pods which is then mixed with palm kernel oil. Since batches vary it could be possible that one batch could work great for an individual while another batch has more of a certain ingredient that might cause a reaction in their skin.  People with skin issues know its a hit and miss routine and their skin changes how it reacts all the time.

When you begin the use of black soap, you might notice that the skin feels dry and tight (Even those with oily skin can notice this) Sometimes it last a day sometimes a week. It’s said that its caused by the soap drawing out excess oils and impurities. After a few days the PH levels of the skin should balance out.

Black soap can also at times cause a tingling & or burning sensation leading to red skin. This also seems to eventually resolve itself after awhile.

ALWAYS DO A PATCH TEST BEFORE USING NEW PRODUCTS IF YOU'RE PRONE TO HAVE SKIN ISSUES..
( A patch test is where you use a product on another part of the body, like the inside of the elbow)

Having reactions to African Black Soap?
  1. If you break out in a rash or contact dermatitis discontinue use and consult your dermatologist.
  2. If you are latex-allergic you could have latex fruit syndrome and could have a reaction the plantain ash in black soap, as well as palm and coconut oil.
  3. If you have a chocolate allergy or are sensitive to caffeine, also be aware that there could be a high concentration of cocoa pods (which make the ash) used in the soap.
